VICTORIAN Law Week kicks off next Monday and free legal advice will be available to people living in regional areas across the state over the seven days.<\/p>\n
From 17 to 23 May the Victorian Law Foundation will host over 130 events where executive director Lynne Haultain said the community can learn about, ask questions and seek advice on the law and speak to its enforcers.<\/p>\n
\u201cVictorian Law Week is not a legal conference, careers expo or a \u2018legal industry thing\u2019, it\u2019s for all Victorians,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring Victorian Law Week, everyone in regional Victoria has unparalleled access to support and advice regarding their everyday legal issues, and every event is free.\u201d<\/p>\n
The in-person and online sessions will include Centrelink and employment assistance in Ballarat, family law advice in Geelong and criminal law information in Bendigo, among many other topics.<\/p>\n
Special event highlights also include a Barwon Prison Dog Squad meet, panels on cyber-bullying and sexting for parents, and a pop-up information session on the development of a new court in Bendigo.<\/p>\n
