BEAUFORT Apex Club have named their newest life member.<\/p>\n
Chris \u2018Listo\u2019 Liston has been a passionate member of Apex for 20 years and is widely known as the best Beaufort Apexian of his generation.<\/p>\n
Apex Club President Tim Chandler said Mr Liston embodies what Apex is all about.<\/p>\n
\u201cChris rarely missed a meeting, and his service record is unparalleled,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was the instigator and main contributor to many of the Club\u2019s community service projects including Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally catering and supporting Donate for Life.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was always a hands-on man, doing the hard work behind the scenes as well as out front communicating and advising.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Liston joined Apex in 1998 and served four terms as club president and also served as Central Highlands district governor and a member of the Victorian State Board.<\/p>\n
A dedicated father and husband, Mr Liston has a well-documented history of volunteering with both the RSL and the Ballarat Sebastopol Cycling Club.<\/p>\n
He joins current life members Harry Fleay, Jim Mahony and Ian Chandler who were all present to congratulate him, along with Apex Australia national secretary Adam Steward who travelled from Toowoomba.<\/p>\n
Last year, the 16-member Beaufort Apex Club won the 2020 Apex Australia Club of the Year award after helping send over $17,000 to Beaufort schools, Scouts and Guides groups and drought and fire affected communities.<\/p>\n
The club\u2019s efforts also include supplying firewood for vulnerable people as part of its Home Help project.<\/p>\n
