Tense. Now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the last year there have been many moments when the past and future seem to collapse and the immediacy of the here and now dominates,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe long for a return to the known and imagine what may come next. Of their time, the photographic artists of the nineth Biennale work with the ferociousness of existence, marking the singular moments and ideas that punctuate and transcend time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really excited by this year\u2019s program, and I can\u2019t wait for people to explore it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Biennale will include the Australian premiere of <em>Linda McCartney: Retrospective<\/em> featuring over 200 of the late creative\u2019s photographs of family life and the music world. These have been curated by her family; Stella, Mary and Paul McCartney.<\/p>\n<p><em>We will all eventually return to earth<\/em> is a showcase looking at culture, colonisation, ownership and authorship, featuring 11 international photographers, while <em>Dibalik <\/em>presents the perspectives of four female-identifying Indonesians.<\/p>\n<p>Alix Marie\u2019s <em>Styx<\/em>, the late Steven Arnold\u2019s <em>Notes from a Queer Mystic<\/em>, Chow and Lin\u2019s <em>The Poverty Line<\/em>, the collaborative <em>In Translation<\/em> and <em>Raining Embers<\/em>, Erik Kessels\u2019 <em>24HRS in Photos<\/em>, <em>Number One|Gudinski<\/em>, the Martin Kantor Portrait Prize, and The Fineman New Photography Award are all indoor exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p>The outdoor BIFB program includes Ai\u0308da Muluneh\u2019s <em>The World Is 9, Say it with Flowers <\/em>at the Ballarat Cemetery, McKenzie Street\u2019s<em> Unfamiliar Wilds<\/em>, and the Bridge Mall\u2019s <em>Mass Isolation<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>BIFB will run from Saturday, 28 August until Sunday, 24 October, also presenting lots of events, talks, walks, performing arts and dining experiences.<\/p>\n<p>The free program on the streets, in cafes, restaurants and other shops will run across 89 sites.
