ALFREDTON Rotary Club has sworn in their president for the 2021-2022 year.<\/p>\n
A charter member of the seven-and-a-half-year-old Club, , Denise Lyons said she\u2019s ready to lead the Club in helping others in the community, with some broader inspiration from Rotary International.<\/p>\n
The organisation\u2019s 2021-2022 global theme is at the front of her mind; serve to change lives<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cThe incoming Rotary International president is Shekhar Mehta. He urges Rotary members to become more involved in service, saying that caring for, and serving others, is the best way to live,\u201d Mrs Lyons said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt changes not only other people\u2019s lives, but our own.\u201d<\/p>\n As she settles into the role, Mrs Lyons is posing five simple but valuable questions to her fellow Alfredton Rotarians and the wider community for their consideration, to remind them why making a commitment to service matters.<\/p>\n \u201cI would like them to think about, what is the Rotary Club of Alfredton\u2019s purpose? What do we stand for, and what are the ideals of Rotary? Who are we here for, and what do we want to achieve this year?<\/p>\n \u201cWe have the opportunity, as a Club, to make a difference in our community, both locally and globally,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cLet us look for those opportunities to serve… each one of us. We need your ideas, involvement, enthusiasm, and willingness to give some time to make a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n Mrs Lyons is also energised by a famous Henry Ford quote, \u201ccoming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.\u201d<\/p>\n Outgoing president David Sanders led the Club over the 2020-2021 year, helping to steer projects including the development of Rotary Centennial Park at Lucas, and the inaugural environmental ideas challenge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" ALFREDTON Rotary Club has sworn in their president for the 2021-2022 year.
