	{"id":77830,"date":"2021-07-18T04:56:15","date_gmt":"2021-07-17T18:56:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=77830"},"modified":"2021-07-13T18:07:37","modified_gmt":"2021-07-13T08:07:37","slug":"chocolate-taste-of-ballarat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/chocolate-taste-of-ballarat\/","title":{"rendered":"Chocolate-coated collab celebrates city"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MIX together the local ingredients of handmade chocolate, hazelnuts, bushfoods, graphic art and small business, and you\u2019ve got a taste of the town.<\/p>\n<p>Chocolate producer Jade Davidson of Lucky and James, and Hattie and the Wolf store owner Andrea Hurley, have collaborated to create A Taste of Ballarat; their own unique 100-gram bar.<\/p>\n<p>Packed with caramelised Allendale-grown hazelnuts and native wattle seed from Buninyong\u2019s Saltbush Kitchen, the packaging has been designed by Hurley, who is also a graphic artist operating as Bird and Blossom.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_77832\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-77832\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-77832\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/07\/IMG_2957-250x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/07\/IMG_2957-250x300.jpg 250w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2021\/07\/IMG_2957.jpg 620w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-77832\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Caramelised Allendale hazelnuts and Saltbush Kitchen wattle seed are the stars of the flavourful show.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI used an illustrated pattern that was really colourful and vibrant. That\u2019s what Ballarat is as a really creative city, and it suited the packaging as something different, rather than the traditional historic Ballarat look,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Davidson said it was important that the bar stood out, to highlight producers and celebrate the teamwork that brought it together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt had to look like our range, and like a Hattie and the Wolf product, but it was great that Andrea could make it extra unique,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hugely important to make the most of the region\u2019s produce. There\u2019s so many great things around Ballarat and the surrounding area that not everyone knows about, so where and when I can, I like to do special bars with those special ingredients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hurley has built Hattie and the Wolf \u201con collaboration,\u201d supporting the growing community of talented makers and artists close-by.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe love working with other locals, promoting Ballarat and what it has to offer.
