NEW plans have been formulated to remove a strand of pine trees in Black Hill\u2019s Binny Reserve that have been deemed dangerous.<\/p>\n
The removal of the pine trees was recommended by an independent auditor last year, before community feedback on the plan led to further consultation.<\/p>\n
Now the pine trees, part of a remnant plantation, will be removed in two stages beginning in the next few weeks, with the rest cut down 12 months later.<\/p>\n
City of Ballarat director infrastructure and environment Bridget Wetherall said once the pines behind the Black Hill swimming pool are gone, they\u2019ll be replated with native plantings.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn addition to the new plantings through the areas where the trees will be removed, there will be further plantings closer to Chisholm Street,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil will certainly welcome the involvement of the stakeholders and wider community with the revegetation works across the reserve.<\/p>\n
