AFTER eight years in the role, Highlands Local Learning and Employment Network executive officer Jannine Bennet will retire in September.<\/p>\n
Highlands LLEN offers a range of programs for education and employment opportunities.<\/p>\n
Ms Bennett has been involved in several programs with a focus on high school students and community members and has overseen the establishment of the Jobs Victoria Advocate program, GROW Ballarat and the Youth Advisory Board.<\/p>\n
She said she feels \u201cvery fortunate\u201d to have worked with the Highlands LLEN team and has dedicated herself to bringing \u201cvital services to our community\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe impact of COVID-19 means that the work of the Highlands LLEN is more important than ever,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYoung people and jobseekers facing new barriers as a result of the pandemic need our support to transition into employment and training.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have always believed in giving support, to young people or community members who just need someone to believe in them and provide the right support at the right time to launch into a positive outcome.\u201d<\/p>\n
Committee of management chair Leanne Parker credited Ms Bennett with helping Highlands LLEN establish a new strategic plan focusing on \u201cproviding advocacy, building capacity, enhancing sustainability and measuring impact\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
