The concept is full of fact, fiction, love and \u201cheart,\u201d and is based on Ballarat.<\/p>\n<p>McCuskey said the Creative Victoria funding will help further develop the \u201ccultural backbone\u201d of the <em>City of Luxville<\/em>, through a collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m working with two local Indigenous artists, Deanne Gilson, a visual artist, and her sister Tammy Gilson, who\u2019s a cultural dancer, an expert on ancient fire practices, and is a weaver and sculptor,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeanne has been a <em>City of Luxville<\/em> muse, and her mum, Aunty Marlene Gilson is a long-term cultural advisor to <em>Luxville<\/em> as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This partnership will take McCuskey\u2019s Irish heritage, and the Gilsons\u2019 Wadawurrung and English heritage, and mix up these backgrounds together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver a series of cultural sharing opportunities, we\u2019re going to develop a story collection in experimental fragments, but they will support the narration of <em>Luxville<\/em>, in 360 video, and augmented and mixed reality,\u201d McCuskey said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBallarat tends to focus on colonialism, but our stories go back years before, and until we acknowledge those, we\u2019re constantly stuck in a time period.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Luxville<\/em> is about telling the whole story, not part of the story and this grant is a way of me being able to go back before <em>Luxville<\/em> was created.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <em>City of Luxville<\/em>, and the separate visual pieces of the puzzle developed along the way, have been created by McCuskey with community members, and she hopes to present a project finale in 2022 or 2023, including a photo play, reading of the screenplay, an exhibition, and screening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe story has been developed on the ground and very much tells the story of this place,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been written in public. I\u2019ve created episodes, photo plays, and characters, and taken them to the community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople might recognise some of the characters and controversies, and they will recognise the places. I\u2019ve created muse portraits in interesting places like Trades Hall, The Mechanics\u2019 Institute, and the Town Hall.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Become a <em>Luxville<\/em> citizen and supporter at <strong>luxville.com.au<\/strong>.
