DYLAN Clarke was \u201cunderplayed\u201d during his five seasons at Essendon, according to Bombers great Tim Watson.<\/p>\n

The 23-year-old\u2019s future hangs in the balance after being cut by the Bombers last Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Clarke will continue training with Essendon in the pre-season and could be re-signed in the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period, depending on list spots.<\/p>\n

Watson thinks the 24-game midfielder can add some \u201creal value\u201d to another AFL club as a delisted free agent.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d give him a go. I reckon he\u2019s been underplayed a lot this kid,\u201d the former Essendon captain told SEN Breakfast<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause of the way they [Essendon] set up, they don\u2019t want to play that type of player.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe there\u2019s a team out there with a different philosophical view of the game that they may be able to go to somebody like him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s not the tidiest player going around, but I still think he\u2019s got some real value to add to somebody.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clarke earned himself a Rising Star nomination in 2019 after shutting down Carlton\u2019s Patrick Cripps and Hawthorn\u2019s Jaeger O’Meara.<\/p>\n

He played four games in 2021, averaging 15.25 disposals and two clearances.<\/p>\n

The first delisted free agency period closes on 10 November.<\/p>\n
