THE new and improved Cambrian Hill bore is operational, ready for the upcoming fire season.<\/p>\n
The old bore, stand and tank were closed in September 2020 due to safety concerns, including unguarded pump belts, uneven footings on the tank, and rust and buckling of the tank stand.<\/p>\n
Between December 2020 and January 2021, residents of Cambrian Hill, Ross Creek and Napoleons were asked whether a new bore should be installed or if a potable water standpipe running off mains water should be established nearby.<\/p>\n
Seventy-five submissions were received, most urging for the bore to be replaced, and the new bore was commissioned last Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe old bore, tank and stand at Heinzs Road unfortunately needed to be closed last year due to safety concerns,\u201d mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFollowing community consultation in late 2020 and early 2021, Council committed to fund the replacement of this important facility for the community in Cambrian Hill, Ross Creek and Napoleons.\u201d<\/p>\n
The replacement of the bore was included in the 2021-22 council budget and the total cost of the works was just over $48,000.<\/p>\n
\u201cWorks to replace the old bore with brand new equipment were recently completed and now the Cambrian Hill bore is back in action ready for the upcoming start of the Fire Danger Period,\u201d Cr Gamble said.<\/p>\n
\u201cGolden Plains Shire council operates four publicly accessible bores, which are free to use for Golden Plains Shire residents for stock and domestic supply.<\/p>\n
