SIP on some top Australian whiskies while immersing yourself in Sovereign Hill\u2019s iconic rare trades at the Whisky in the Wheelwrights event this Friday, 10 December.<\/p>\n
Set in the Wheelwrights Workshop from 5.30pm to 7pm, the event will see attendees taste six drinks from Archie Rose Distilling and Starward Whisky, and snacks by the Peter Rowland Group all while learning tricks of the wood, fire, metal and heat trades.<\/p>\n
Head of rare trades and programming at Sovereign Hill, Erin Santamaria, said the event was all about giving people a chance to immerse themselves in something new.<\/p>\n
\u201cSovereign Hill is all about unique and memorable experiences and this one night only tasting will be just that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCelebrating passion and craftsmanship, this event is not to be missed. Guests can definitely expect the unexpected.\u201d<\/p>\n
Heritage trade demonstrations are set to include hot tyring and steam bending while Archie Rose\u2019s Paul Slater and Starward\u2019s Matty Folent guide the whisky tastings.<\/p>\n
Three rounds of tastings will be conducted, paired with decadent snacks like mussels, whipped caviar, wagyu and even a mini truffle cheese jaffle.<\/p>\n
In a statement released by Sovereign Hill last week, the living museum said the event was organised to celebrate artisan whisky and craftsmanship while demonstrating the rare trades still alive and well at the popular Ballarat destination.<\/p>\n
Their 20-year master plan released late last year included the announcement of a Centre for Rare Arts and Forgotten Trades aimed at passing on knowledge of the near extinct practices.<\/p>\n
