CENTRAL Highlands Water\u2019s annual water outlook has revealed water resources are in a \u201cvery good position\u201d in the lead up to summer, but the organisation is reminding residents to stick to water saving rules.<\/p>\n
Managing director Paul O\u2019Donohue said recent rainfall had almost filled storages, leading to the positive forecast.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had good rainfall over the past few months which means our reservoirs are near capacity and ground water levels are normal, placing our water resources in a very good position for the warmer months ahead,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand that a secure and reliable water supply is fundamental to the health and wellbeing of our community and we again expect to meet community water supply demand from our local storages this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Lal Lal Reservoir spilled over for the fifth time since 1997 in August this year, while three storages in Daylesford are also at capacity and Maryborough’s surface water is sitting at 93 per cent.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe thank everyone in our community for playing their part in using water wisely,\u201d Mr O\u2019Donohue said.<\/p>\n
