TWO classes of BGT and The Gordon\u2019s landscaping students have marked the end of their practical course with a graduation ceremony at Barkly Square.<\/p>\n
Over the last 12 months, the 17 young people have explored propagation, irrigation, building and construction, and community work, including hands-on contributions to the local Dementia Friendly Forest and Sensory Trail.<\/p>\n
All engaged in secondary education, the students have spent two days per week learning at Barkly Square or off-site with their landscaping teachers and peers.<\/p>\n
The Gordon\u2019s John Tucker said his team backs the green-thumbed learners\u2019 passions and goals as they launch their careers.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been gratifying to see the students grow and foster their skills and talents towards the workforce,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Graduate Nathanial Walker was grateful for the unique learning experience which complemented his year 12 studies.<\/p>\n
\u201cComing to BGT has been one of the best choices I have made for my education, and I am now trying nursery work,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
BGT traineeship and apprentice consultant Julie Butler said the course has taken six extra months for the students to complete due to the pandemic, but their perseverance has been admirable.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been a tough year…and we celebrate their commitment, determination and success,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFriday\u2019s graduation was a lovely day with parents in attendance who said…their young people had all developed so much since they started.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s always a pleasure to watch these young people grow whilst they are with us, and we wish them all well in their chosen pathways.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
