It was just a natural phenomenon where nothing was going to stop the water,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_81733\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-81733\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-81733\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/01\/Creswick-floods-oval-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-81733\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A fully submerged Hammon Park Oval.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe destruction was extraordinary. Three or four trees came down by our house, but the wind was so strong my husband couldn\u2019t hear anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Returning from Ballarat as the storm was beginning, Ms Watson drove past the RACV Goldfields Resort and saw so much hail on the golf course that is \u201clooked like thick snow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot only was the hail big, it didn\u2019t melt away. It was still there the next day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once the storm had stopped, she walked down to photograph the floodwaters in the centre of Creswick, where fellow community members were \u201castounded,\u201d but doing all they could to support one another.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_81735\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-81735\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-81735\" src=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/01\/Hepburn-Daylesford-SES-volunteers-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-81735\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hepburn-Daylesford SES volunteers Brad Climie, Emily Pullen and Andrew Christo by the Anglican Church Hall.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe CFA and SES came from all over the place; Gisbourne, Hepburn and Bacchus Marsh. People just rallied around,\u201d Ms Watson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose who can help, including businesses, have helped their friends and neighbours. The local pizza place 84 on Albert closed so that they could just cook meals for the SES and volunteers who\u2019d helped.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are people who had to evacuate their homes, and people have been helping them, taking them in. There\u2019s a lovely sense of community.
