AS the start of the Coles Express NBL1 South season draws closer, the Ballarat Miners have announced more players are joining the club.<\/p>\n
Late last week it was revealed that Annie Collins and Millie Cracknell would re-join women\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n
Both players are products of the local system, coming up through the Celtic Tigers before joining the Rush.<\/p>\n
Cracknell is a 168-centimetre-tall point guard and said she\u2019s looking to make an impact with the rebranded club in season 2022.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to being a part of the recent name change to the Miners,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve played for Ballarat longer than I can remember and I love where the club\u2019s heading.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis season like all seasons I aim to improve. I have played a few years now and I think it\u2019s important for me to step up and take control of the game when needed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Collins is a 169-centimetre-tall guard. She\u2019s has spent time with the Miners youth development squad, and saw 14 starts with the big club last year and played some big minutes.<\/p>\n
Miners\u2019 women\u2019s committee representative Lynly Doherty said Collins had the potential to make big impacts on games this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer defensive pressure up one end and ability to nail some big shots down the other makes her a great asset to the team,\u201d said Doherty.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile Annie is still young, she has been involved with the NBL1 program for a couple of years now.\u201d<\/p>\n
The NBL1 South season is slated to get underway in April.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
