{"id":82239,"date":"2022-02-10T04:44:11","date_gmt":"2022-02-09T17:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=82239"},"modified":"2022-02-08T14:42:01","modified_gmt":"2022-02-08T03:42:01","slug":"local-record-tumbles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/sport\/local-record-tumbles\/","title":{"rendered":"Local record tumbles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A NEARLY forty-year-old record at Ballarat Regional Athletic Centre was broken recently.<\/p>\n<p>Sprinter Cooper Sherman ran a 21.24 over 200-meters, breaking a time set by Michael Benoit in 1984.<\/p>\n<p>The 17-year-old Sherman competes for Ballarat Harriers Athletics Club and his record-breaking run was good enough to further punch his ticket to the Australian Track and Field Championships in April,<\/p>\n<p>The time also a qualifying marker for the World Juniors.<\/p>\n<p>Sherman is having a strong season so far, having also recoded a World Junior qualifying time for the 400 meters in Bendigo, stopping the clock at 47.20 over the distance.<\/p>\n<p>He also claimed three gold medals in the recent Victorian Country Championships win the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter events in the under 20s.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A NEARLY forty-year-old record at Ballarat Regional Athletic Centre was broken recently.
