{"id":83121,"date":"2022-03-24T04:56:59","date_gmt":"2022-03-23T17:56:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=83121"},"modified":"2022-03-22T15:26:02","modified_gmt":"2022-03-22T04:26:02","slug":"girls-night-out","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/girls-night-out\/","title":{"rendered":"Girls\u2019 night gives thousands to great cause"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Ballarat Trotting Club welcomed just over two hundred women to their annual Girls Night Out last Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>A fundraiser for youth bullying and suicide prevention charity Dolly\u2019s Dream, the evening of racing, food, friendship, and entertainment in the Terrace Restaurant generated $13,000 through ticket sales, auctions, and raffles.<\/p>\n<p>The Flying Horse\u2019s venue manager Rebecca Bell said supporting the charity, which has a particular focus on cyberbullying, was more fitting than ever as many young people have lived device-centric lives while in COVID-19 isolation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis fundraiser was initially planned for 2020. We, and the charity, didn\u2019t know if it would ever go ahead, so it was a great feeling when the night rolled around,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_83124\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-83124\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-83124\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/03\/20220317-Dollys-Dream-MC-006-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-83124\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Ballarat &amp; District Trotting Club\u2019s latest Girls Night Out supported suicide prevention organisations.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI called Dolly\u2019s Dream on Friday and let them know we\u2019d had our fundraiser and they\u2019d been excitedly waiting for the call. They were stoked to hear how much we\u2019d raised.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo hear their gratitude, it made it even more worth it, and we are so thankful to all the local businesses who supported the night and donated prizes because we couldn\u2019t have done this without them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Dolly\u2019s Dream is a national charity, Ballarat Trotting Club also made a donation of $500 to the Ballarat and District Suicide Awareness Network on the night.<\/p>\n<p>The Girls Night Out initiative has raised more than $120,000 since it was established, and supports a different local or national cause every year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Ballarat Trotting Club welcomed just over two hundred women to their annual Girls Night Out last Thursday.
