{"id":83280,"date":"2022-03-31T04:57:25","date_gmt":"2022-03-30T17:57:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=83280"},"modified":"2022-03-31T09:11:18","modified_gmt":"2022-03-30T22:11:18","slug":"cresfest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/cresfest\/","title":{"rendered":"CresFest sounding awesome!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MUSIC, performance, and dancing will bring Creswick to life from tomorrow as the inaugural CresFest gets underway.<\/p>\n<p>The contemporary folk and world music festival will be held from this Friday, 1 to Sunday, 3 April, inviting lovers of performing arts from across the region to enjoy a weekend of live tunes in iconic and historic venues across the town.<\/p>\n<p>CresFest convenor Judy Turner said much \u201ctalent, energy, time, skills and enthusiasm\u201d has already been offered by her support team of organisers, but of course, plenty more is expected on the stages this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s only when you get to this moment, just days before the opening event, that I am able to say I am truly humbled by this community who have come on board, to take the risk, to say, I helped to achieve something special for Creswick,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Many live acts are booked across the huge weekend program including Emma Donovan and The Putbacks, D\u2019Arcy Spiller, KEE\u2019AHN, FOOLS, Freya Josephine Hollick, Pete Denahy, the Eric Bogle Trio and the Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_83283\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-83283\" style=\"width: 246px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-83283\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/03\/DARCY-SPILLER-246x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"246\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/03\/DARCY-SPILLER-246x300.jpg 246w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/03\/DARCY-SPILLER-840x1024.jpg 840w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/03\/DARCY-SPILLER-768x936.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/03\/DARCY-SPILLER.jpg 891w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 246px) 100vw, 246px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-83283\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hitting her stride: Musician D\u2019Arcy Spiller is on the bill of performers, currently gaining national popularity.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There are also free activities, busking, and even a family bush dance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great reason to visit Creswick. This is truly a festival that has something for all ages, all abilities and so many musical genres,\u201d Ms Turner said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere really is something for everyone from participation, to listening, watching, contemplation and meditation. I couldn\u2019t be happier how it\u2019s all come together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>CresFest volunteer and Creswick Chorus singer Fiona Watson said excitement is bubbling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a real sense of anticipation, of what&#8217;s been accomplished,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe last rehearsals for community choir are happening, making sure words are remembered, but the choir is about having fun, and Stella Savy is an absolute marvel at making sure that happens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>RACV Goldfields Resort has sponsored a free shuttle bus from Ballarat to Creswick on Saturday and Sunday, and The Lions Club of Creswick has purchased tickets to CresFest for people disadvantaged by the recent Creswick floods.<\/p>\n<p>Cars cannot be parked on the main street of Creswick for more than two hours, but there will be plenty of longer-term parks in side street, and the shuttle.
