A SERIES of homegrown concerts will be returning over the coming months following the launch of Chisholm Street\u2019s 2022 program.<\/p>\n
The intimate concerts started last year when Bronwyn Blaiklock decided to run a series of events out of her Black Hill home.<\/p>\n
Each show will see about 30 audience members seated throughout her loungeroom and deck, and Blaiklock said the program will run in the same fashion as last year\u2019s, with recurring performances by each artist.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven though it\u2019s a small space, I\u2019ve made it so that performers can play the same program up to four times for different audiences over a few days,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a player who isn\u2019t involved in an orchestra with repeat concerts, it\u2019s a beautiful thing. We get to afford time to all that work we\u2019ve done so it\u2019s a great professional development.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe thematic link of the event is about the slow dance we\u2019ve all done in isolation, although the ongoing concert program will branch out and explore different ideas with each series.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat we do at Chisholm Street is delve into a different corner of classical music. We give audiences a hook and then hopefully demonstrate that it isn\u2019t all highfalutin and exclusive.\u201d<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s program will comprise six different concerts repeated over at least three days, with the first series occurring in April followed by one each month.<\/p>\n
The themes will vary between each series, and Blaiklock said the program will comprise solely on local musicians.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s enough talent here to sustain performing, so I\u2019d like to demonstrate that by offering a space in my house in my lounge,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnother beauty of the location is that I don\u2019t have to worry about hire fees and cancellations. It\u2019s just so much more accessible.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese concerts are giving people up close and personal experiences with music the way we see it as players.\u201d<\/p>\n
