THE Ballarat branch of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem has further contributions to support vulnerable people in the region, with donations to both the Soup Bus and Shower Bus.<\/p>\n
A representative from the Order said essential items worth $250 were donated to the Soup Bus, including items such as custard powder, long life milk and thick soups.<\/p>\n
The Soup Bus runs five evenings every week, from Monday to Thursday and on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Local restaurants, cafes and bakeries assist with food preparation for the bus to distribute.<\/p>\n
The Order also donated $500 to the Shower Bus, for personal care pack items.<\/p>\n
Member John Davis said, \u201cBecause the shower bus provides hope and dignity to the homeless people of Ballarat through provisions of hygiene services, we felt compelled to offer this support.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope the wider Ballarat community would recognise the value of the service provided by the shower bus and come on board with support as either a volunteer or with a financial contribution,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The shower bus runs on Thursday and Sunday evenings in Armstrong Street South, next to the soup bus, allowing for people to clean themselves and their clothes.<\/p>\n
The Ballarat branch of the Order of Saint John provides both practical and financial support for several charities, including Ballarat Hospice, Berry Street, the Salvation Army, 3BA Christmas Appeal, Eureka Mums and Uniting Breezeway.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
