FREE activities are on the cards for young people across the Golden Plains Shire this school holidays.<\/p>\n
Starting next Monday, people aged 12 to 25 years old will have a variety of things to do, all focusing on social connection and personal development.<\/p>\n
Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble encouraged young people to check out the range of activities on offer.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil\u2019s school holiday activities are an excellent opportunity for Golden Plains\u2019 youth to connect, gain new skills and make friends in a safe, inclusive and fun environment,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil is committed to creating new and enjoyable experiences for Golden Plains youth over the holiday periods to meet the needs and interests of young people, whilst providing platforms to learn new skills and build capacity.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese activities combine fun, relaxed options with practical training to equip young people with professional skills for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Monday, 11 April and Tuesday, 12 April between 10am and 4pm there will be a smartphone film making workshop at the Golden Plains Youth Hub in Bannockburn.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, 13 April from 11am to 1pm there will be a pop-up barbecue and music at Dereel Skate Park, and a similar event will take place at the Bannockburn Skate Park on Wednesday, 20 April.<\/p>\n
Several skills courses are available too, including a responsible service of alcohol training at the Well in Smythesdale from 3pm to 8pm.<\/p>\n
Two barista training courses will be held, one on Thursday, 21 April at Haddon Community House from 11am to 2pm and one on Saturday, 23 April at Coco Espresso Crew at Bannockburn from 4pm to 7pm.<\/p>\n
The Haddon Community House will also host a food safety course on Saturday, 23 April from 9am to 3pm.<\/p>\n
