FURTHER works included in the Spotlight on Sebastopol project have been announced at a cost of one-million dollars.<\/p>\n
First pitched by Member for Buninyong, Michaela Settle, during the 2018 State election campaign the new suite of works focuses on a range of areas.<\/p>\n
They include upgrades to MR Power Park like a new skatepark, three-on-three basketball court, outdoor exercise and sports equipment, and landscaping and lighting.<\/p>\n
Also planned are streetscaping works at the local shopping strip, upgrades at the Sebastopol RSL, lighting improvements for St George\u2019s Reserve, and a community garden at Phoenix College.<\/p>\n
The funded projects come from community consultation via a reference group formed as part of the initial rollout of the $5 million Spotlight on Sebastopol plan, as well as input from the City of Ballarat.<\/p>\n
Other early works have included tree plantings in Sebastopol and an effort to improve pathways near the Yarrowee River.<\/p>\n
\u201cSpotlight on Sebastopol has been a wonderful project to make Sebas an even better place to live,\u201d Ms Settle said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was great to work with the community reference group and City of Ballarat to identify and fund projects that will make a real difference to people\u2019s lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
With electoral boundaries redrawn late last year, if Ms Settle is re-elected she will no longer be the local member, as Sebastopol now falls into the Wendouree electorate and would be represented by Juliana Addison.<\/p>\n
A strong proponent of a similar urban renewal effort in parts of Wendouree West, Ms Addison said Spotlight on Sebastopol was about overall improvement of the suburb.<\/p>\n
