A NEW report by e-scooter operator Neuron Mobility has revealed Ballarat riders\u2019 usage of the company\u2019s e-scooters.<\/p>\n
After e-scooter trialling began last December, Neuron\u2019s research has found over half of riders\u2019 journeys replaced car travel, with 86 per cent of users saying the machines have had a positive impact on the city.<\/p>\n
Neuron Mobility\u2019s Head of ANZ, Richard Hannah, said their findings show Ballarat is embracing e-scooters.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe people of Ballarat have shown an overwhelming amount of positive feedback about our e-scooters,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSustainability and safety are the core of Neuron\u2019s operations and the latest data shows that e-scooters are playing a key role in replacing car journeys.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s encouraging to see so many riders enjoying the service, while reducing congestion and emissions in the city.\u201d<\/p>\n
Riders have collectively covered over 250,000 kilometres, and it\u2019s estimated that the city\u2019s e-scooter use has offset 25 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.<\/p>\n
The study also reveals that 69 per cent of rides resulted in a purchase at a local business, and City of Ballarat mayor Cr Daniel Moloney said the findings mean the e-scooters are a positive addition.<\/p>\n
“The survey results show that while most of the trips taken on the scooters are for fun and leisure, a really healthy amount were people travelling from A to B around Ballarat,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
