{"id":85452,"date":"2022-06-23T04:38:41","date_gmt":"2022-06-22T17:38:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=85452"},"modified":"2022-06-22T15:26:17","modified_gmt":"2022-06-22T04:26:17","slug":"dangerfield-backs-marquee-timeslot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/sport\/dangerfield-backs-marquee-timeslot\/","title":{"rendered":"Dangerfield backs marquee timeslot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">GEELONG star and AFLPA president Patrick Dangerfield has said he\u2019s \u201cvery much in favour\u201d of regular Thursday night football going forward.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thursday night footy returned two weeks ago when Richmond played Port Adelaide at the MCG.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">No Thursday night games were scheduled between rounds 6 to 12.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Dangerfield enjoyed playing in the marquee timeslot during his time at Adelaide, but says it\u2019s not going to suit every state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Gerard Whateley, the host of SEN\u2019s <em>Whateley<\/em>, asked, \u201cIs your gut feeling that Thursday night footy will be a permanent in the new CBA?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019m very much in favour of it,\u201d Dangerfield replied.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI think it works really well. The best example I\u2019ve got of Thursday night footy is my time in Adelaide\u2026 the city really is alive, and it was brilliant, really embraced by the city.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe haven\u2019t had too many at the Cats, but certainly at Adelaide it was something that we loved at the time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s not going to suit every state, but some certainly will really embrace it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019d like to see Thursday night a regular fixture going forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thursday night games will be played from rounds 13 to 17, with Dangerfield\u2019s Cats host reigning premiers Melbourne at GMHBA Stadium on Thursday night in round 17.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em><strong>&#8211; BY ALEX ZAIA\/ SEN<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG star and AFLPA president Patrick Dangerfield has said he\u2019s \u201cvery much in favour\u201d of regular Thursday night football going forward.
