{"id":85785,"date":"2022-07-07T04:38:56","date_gmt":"2022-07-06T17:38:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=85785"},"modified":"2022-07-06T19:56:23","modified_gmt":"2022-07-06T08:56:23","slug":"lloyd-calls-out-essendon-review","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/sport\/lloyd-calls-out-essendon-review\/","title":{"rendered":"Lloyd calls out Essendon review"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">ESSENDON great Matthew Lloyd has reiterated his stance on the club\u2019s review, saying only an external audit of all facets of the club will uncover what is currently going wrong.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Bombers slumped to a 10-point loss at the hands of West Coast on Friday night, the Eagles\u2019 first win in nine attempts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Essendon has recently launched a review, which will be headed by football director Sean Wellman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lloyd said the review, which at this stage is being conducted internally, needed external voices to truly find out the root of the club\u2019s problem.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The champion forward said he wasn\u2019t sure what an internal review would achieve at the underperforming club.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThey need to look deeper and find out what is going wrong,\u201d Lloyd said on <em>Sportsday<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI look at some of the teams that are growing, what Collingwood, Fremantle and Carlton have done, they are improving.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHawthorn are on four wins, Adelaide are on five wins and Essendon are on three wins.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI made it about Ben Rutten [on the <em>Sunday Footy Show<\/em>]\u2026 because I don\u2019t like the way they\u2019re playing, but I\u2019m big on this not being an internal review and massive on it being an external review.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cSuddenly [if it\u2019s an external review] the CEO can be reviewed, the coach and assistant coaches and the whole administration needs to be looked at.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt might come out that the coach is coaching okay\u2026 but the way they\u2019re doing it now, I\u2019m not sure what they\u2019re trying to achieve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><em><strong>&#8211; BY LAURENCE ROSEN\/ SEN<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ESSENDON great Matthew Lloyd has reiterated his stance on the club\u2019s review, saying only an external audit of all facets of the club will uncover what is currently going wrong.
