AFTER launching in March, the Chisholm Street program will hold two series of performances throughout July.<\/p>\n
The series was established during lockdown last year when founder and pianist Bronwyn Blaiklock started hosting performances from her Black Hill home.<\/p>\n
The events are capped at about 30 people and Blaiklock said the intimate concerts offer accessible classical performances.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe give audiences a hook and then hopefully demonstrate that it isn\u2019t all highfalutin and exclusive,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like to turn that myth back on itself by giving people up close and personal experiences of the music.\u201d<\/p>\n
The first of the July series, titled Originals vs. Covers, will take place on Friday, 15 July and Saturday, 16 July, featuring bassist and vocalist Amie Br\u00fbl\u00e9e and guitarist Geoff McArthur.<\/p>\n
Australian Voices will follow on Friday, 29 July and Saturday, 30 July, with spoken word performances by poet Megan J Riedl and piano accompaniment by Blaiklock.<\/p>\n
The pair will perform pieces by Australian composers like Percy Grainger, Amadis Lacheta and Peter Sculthorpe, alongside Reidl’s original poetry.<\/p>\n
