EAST Point Football Netball Club led another Wellness Round of football recently, raising nearly three thousand dollars for the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre Wellness Centre.<\/p>\n
Alongside their opposition North Ballarat, the Roos formed a guard of honour for coin-tosser and BRICC patient, Jodie Hodge, before winning the game on home turf at the Eastern Oval.<\/p>\n
Former AFL and Carlton Football Club great Anthony Koutoufides was also in attendance, speaking to the clubs, Grampians Health volunteers, and supporters about the widespread impact cancer has on all families and communities.<\/p>\n
BRICC Wellness Centre and pastoral care manager Simone Noelker said public fundraising for the facility is crucial.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Wellness Centre is a valuable resource for all cancer patients in our community, where we provide a welcoming space for patients with cancer and their families,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also offer a range of education seminars, support groups and one-on-one advice sessions. However, as we are 100 per cent community funded, we rely on the generosity of our community to provide our services.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur programs are all free of charge and available to all cancer patients in our region, regardless of where they are having treatment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very grateful to the East Point and North Ballarat supporters who helped us raise these much-needed funds.\u201d<\/p>\n
Grampians Health Ballarat community events coordinator Kellie Pearce said the Wellness Round was returning after a three-year break, and it first launched in 2017.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was so lovely to be back out in the community talking about our amazing Wellness Centre. The Wellness Round is something we are delighted to have back,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a great way to raise the profile of the BRICC Wellness Centre and the services and support they offer.<\/p>\n
