WALK through a Winter Wonderland<\/em> when you visit the latest art exhibition at Barkly Square this month.<\/p>\n

Ten members of the Ballarat Society of Artists are showcasing 30 paintings, drawings and lino prints which all share a winter theme, or depict the local area, with Lake Wendouree a particular focus.<\/p>\n

BSA business secretary Susan Clarke said members of the organisation have relished the opportunity to showcase work at the Ballarat East hub, as being involved with community is a key part of the Society\u2019s charter.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were so pleased to be invited to present our work there, because it means more people get to see our art in a different location and venue, and they get to know about us,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we get ourselves out there, we can be linked with people who might want to join the society.\u201d<\/p>\n

Members Denise Adams, Jen Rankin, and Clarke are also currently presenting their first combined printmaking exhibition, A Touch of Red<\/em>, at The Gatehouse cafe at the Ballarat New Cemetery, with 24 lino prints on display.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re so grateful to venues for supporting local Ballarat talent again and providing spaces for various people in the public to see our work,\u201d Clarke said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s particularly nice to go into a cafe and see a variety of artwork on display. The art community is great in Ballarat.\u201d<\/p>\n

The society\u2019s ongoing exhibition at the Lake Wendouree Museum continues, with 65 people dropping in for a look between 10am to 2pm last Sunday alone.<\/p>\n

Winter Wonderland<\/em> is on display until Friday, 26 August, and all works are for sale, with the artists\u2019 contact numbers on tags next to the works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
