WITH school holidays arriving at the end of the month, a different kind of camping experience is aiming to keep kids entertained over the break.<\/p>\n
Children\u2019s coding-based holiday program, Code Camp, is set to make its regional debut at Ballarat Grammar School on Wednesday, 28 September and Thursday, 29 September.<\/p>\n
CEO and co-founder Ben Levi will be joining in for the program\u2019s weekend visit, and said he\u2019s excited to bring the program to the city.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis program is really about inspiring kids to be creative with technology and not just consumers of it in a really fun and engaging way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Code Camp\u2019s debut will introduce the in-house Spark program which aims to teach computer and web programming language to seven-to-eight-year-olds, as well as their YouTube creators filmmaking program, and Minions animation program for five-to-seven-year-olds.<\/p>\n
Alongside a small crew of visiting representatives, a team of about 10 local recruits will be formed to help deliver the program.<\/p>\n
Mr Levi said their Ballarat debut will mark the program\u2019s expansion into regional Victoria after nine years in Melbourne.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re looking to expand more beyond the major capital cities and help more kids to experience this so Ballarat\u2019s the first foray into that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do run other programs like a DJ program, extended coding and drone programs. There\u2019s a lot for us to come back to Ballarat with and do more with hopefully over the summer holidays.\u201d<\/p>\n
