BALLARAT City Rowing Club is participating in This Girl Can Week by encouraging women of all abilities, ages and backgrounds to get active for the first time, get moving again, or to try a new sport.<\/p>\n
They\u2019re hosting indoor rowing group fitness sessions upstairs at their boatshed to introduce women and girls to the rowing machines on Saturday, 17 and Sunday 18 September, from 9am to 10am.<\/p>\n
BCRC president Sharon Waters said their aim is to provide a welcoming and non-judgemental space for beginners, and encourage them to take a new leap into fitness.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want women to feel comfortable getting active with us, no matter what they look like, their fitness level, or how sweaty they are after a workout,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe think they\u2019re amazing for giving it a go and trying something new, and we\u2019re here to support, encourage and motivate women, without judgement.<\/p>\n
\u201cEnsuring that all women feel safe and empowered to be active is always important to us, especially during This Girl Can Week.\u201d<\/p>\n
This Girl Can Week is a VicHealth initiative running between Monday, 12 and Sunday, 18 September, and Victorian lead Rebecca Ahern said it\u2019s about providing more accessible and enjoyable opportunities for women to return to exercise, or get into fitness, close to home.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis Girl Can – Victoria is all about celebrating what women can do, whether that\u2019s a walk around the block or a few laps of the pool,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis Girl Can Week is here to support women to get back into exercise and enjoy the feeling of moving their body again, whether it\u2019s the connection of being part of a team, the peace found through yoga or the freedom of going for a run or ride.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no judgement if you haven\u2019t exercised in a while, all that matters is that you give it a go.\u201d<\/p>\n
