A NEW road works project will soon get underway as part of the more than sixty-million-dollar State-Government funded Keeping Ballarat Moving initiative.<\/p>\n
The works are set to take place at the T intersection of Dyson Drive and Ballarat-Carngham Road in Alfredton.<\/p>\n
Member for Wendouree, Juliana Addison, said the works will help maintain traffic flow for the region\u2019s growing population.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis road infrastructure upgrade for the growing suburbs of Winter Valley and Alfredton will ensure that we keep traffic moving and improve road safety,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a great outcome for local residents and another example of how we\u2019re making Ballarat an even better place to live and work.\u201d<\/p>\n
As part of the Alfredton works and new roundabout will be constructed where Dyson Drive and Ballarat-Carngham Road meet and its estimated more than 700 vehicles travel areas during peak periods.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing are set to be installed at the intersection of Docwra and Prince streets and the Midland Highway in Sebastopol as part of works already underway in the area.<\/p>\n
Also included in that thoroughfare\u2019s expansion, the Midland Highway will be duplicated in both directions between the new lights and Westcliffe Crescent.<\/p>\n
The traffic barriers between Prince and Docwra streets and Queen Street have been relocated to accommodate the works, which Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Ben Carroll said is an important step in continuing the project.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe repositioning of the existing traffic barriers marks a significant stage of works and brings us even closer to the completion of the project which will improve traffic flow and make it safer for pedestrians crossing the Midland Highway,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
