{"id":87706,"date":"2022-09-29T04:44:12","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T18:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=87706"},"modified":"2022-09-28T12:15:01","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T02:15:01","slug":"pressure-cheerleading-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/pressure-cheerleading-states\/","title":{"rendered":"Three cheers for pressure performers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PRESSURE Cheerleading and Dance athletes have come away from the Australian All Star Cheerleading Federation State Championships with gold, silver, bronze and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Eight teams from the Delacombe club took part in the two-day comp at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre earlier this month, all performing routines for a maximum two-and-a-half minutes.<\/p>\n<p>In non-tumble cheerleading, Pressure\u2019s Loreto College team in high school level one, and their Sovereign team in the adult level one took first place, having showcased stunts, jumps and dancing. Junior cheerleading team Crush, and adult hip-hop team Rush placed second.<\/p>\n<p>Director Tara Schmidt said her athletes put on their best performances of the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur teams all worked really hard to perfect their routines in the weeks leading up to the competition, and to get there, so we were very grateful to walk away with our placings,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_87708\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-87708\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-87708\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/09\/IMG_084453_003-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/09\/IMG_084453_003-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/09\/IMG_084453_003-1024x575.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/09\/IMG_084453_003-768x431.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/09\/IMG_084453_003.jpg 1415w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-87708\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The club leads the Loreto College cheerleading program, which had success at the AASCF State Championships.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe came home with more trophies than we\u2019d ever won before in total. It\u2019s a nice feeling for the girls to walk back into the gym and know that they\u2019ve earnt those.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we got the scores back and saw how close we were in comparison to the other teams, it reinforced that we\u2019re doing well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senior level two cheerleaders Rebellion, and open novice jazz team Quartz placed third. In the open novice lyrical, Quartz also received a fourth place, and in adult pom, Rush placed sixth.<\/p>\n<p>With Pressure members aged between nine and 39 involved, Ms Schmidt said they supported one another when it was their time to shine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s nice to sit back and watch them cheer on each other,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>About 430 teams and 3500 from more than 50 Victorian clubs took part in the AASCF State Championships. Teams Crush and Rebellion are now rehearsing for nationals on the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n<p>Pressure Cheerleading and Dance opened in 2019 and enrolments have grown by three hundred per cent within three years.
