AT November\u2019s State Election, the seat of Wendouree will be contested by Victorian Greens candidate Ellen Burns.<\/p>\n
Ms Burns is the owner-operator of local snack food business We Bar None, and an environmental activist who is a key part of anti-food waste initiative The Hidden Orchard, and is involved with BREAZE\u2019s Smart Living arm.<\/p>\n
Ballarat born and bred, Ms Burns said she has a passion for the city, understands its strengths and issues, and will aim for a better quality of life for all residents.<\/p>\n
Her campaign will focus on more affordable housing, lowering the cost of living, improving health services and public transport, and action on climate change.<\/p>\n
\u201cCost of living is the biggest concern for most people right now. We need clean and affordable energy for all, a stronger local food network, efficient homes, and a better public transport network,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cBallarat\u2019s population is booming, and we need a government that will work fast to address housing affordability and expand health, education, and transport infrastructure to meet the needs of our growing community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Greens, unlike Labor and the Liberals, do not take donations from fossil fuel companies, property developers or the gambling industry. While the major parties are riddled with corruption and misconduct allegations, the Greens are a grassroots, people-powered party who will hold the major parties to account.\u201d<\/p>\n
If in government, the Victorian Greens will also aim to swap out coal and gas for 100 per cent renewable energy within the next eight years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
