CALLING all garden admirers and green thumbs, as an outdoor tradition returns to Creswick.<\/p>\n
The town\u2019s Garden Lovers Weekend will take place on Saturday, 12 November and Sunday, 13 November after a two-year break.<\/p>\n
Organiser, and Business and Tourism Creswick committee chair Margaret Giles said it\u2019s exciting for the town to have the event in bloom again.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt feels good to put it back on now. We\u2019ve got lovely gardens on display for everyone to enjoy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s an important event for Creswick. It brings lots of people to the town and it\u2019s an opportunity to meet people who are working here.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt brings a real sense of community cohesion.\u201d<\/p>\n
Eight private gardens will be open for public viewing, and cash raised from the weekend will go towards community projects in Creswick.<\/p>\n
An estimated 1500 people attended the last Creswick Garden Lovers Weekend and Ms Giles said it\u2019s an ideal way to show off the town to visitors.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe event is about economic development, in a sense. You\u2019re bringing people to the area that might not otherwise visit,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey might stay a night or two. They might come back for a meal. It keeps things moving here too.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just a great opportunity to show off some of our gardens and we\u2019ve also got a lot of new businesses here too in the main street that are very strong.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tickets can be purchased at the Creswick Neighbourhood Centre where a map will be available, or at bit.ly\/3eCul83. Entry into each garden is $5. Children enter free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
