AN upcoming trivia night organised by the Invermay Primary School\u2019s parents and friends committee is being held with the aim of raising funds for one of their children.<\/p>\n
Money raised will go towards home equipment to aid Arli Darrell, who was diagnosed with refractory epilepsy at four months old.<\/p>\n
Arli\u2019s mother, Scarlett Darrell, said the systems will be essential for her daughter\u2019s development.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe main item we need is a hoist. We\u2019re also looking at an outdoor swing because there\u2019s one or two public ones in Ballarat she can use,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re looking at a walker system to initiate some steps, a low bed with high sides and ramps for the front and back of the house.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has caused a global development delay so she can\u2019t crawl, she can\u2019t sit up unassisted, she can\u2019t walk or talk.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome kids can grow out of this from the ages of two to four. Arli will be four in December. She can have up to 10 seizures and on a bad day it can be 30 or 40.\u201d<\/p>\n
While Arli attends kindergarten at Ballarat Specialist School, her brother Huey attends Invermay Primary School, of which Ms Darrell is a member of the parents and friends.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s hard to ask for help but we\u2019re incredibly thankful to Invermay Primary and the parents committee. They\u2019ve all done so much to help Arli and our family,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
