WENDOUREE Cricket Club members took part in a drug and drink driving awareness workshop last week.<\/p>\n
WCC committee member Max Drew said the RoadSafe Central Highlands Looking After Our Mates education session provided a great example for their younger players.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe way the road toll is, we don\u2019t want to… contribute to that at all,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just very important we set an example and it\u2019s important we do the right thing by the future of our club and community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis isn\u2019t a pressing issue but if we don\u2019t address it, it could be. All it takes is one incident.\u201d<\/p>\n
The session was delivered during the club\u2019s selection night last Thursday where RoadSafe Central Highlands facilitator Matt Nevett led a talk on the dangers of mixing drugs and alcohol with driving.<\/p>\n
Member for Wendouree, Juliana Addison, said the session carried an important message for the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cSporting clubs are at the heart of our community so if we can roll out education programs to them, we\u2019re going to change people\u2019s attitudes to drinking,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Wendouree Cricket Club are outstanding. They only open the bar two nights a week and they train six nights a week.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s already sending a message that we\u2019re here to play cricket. That comes first. The drinking comes second. That\u2019s why this club is going to be so fantastic to roll this out.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
