RESIDENTS and local leaders are encouraged to attend a public meeting at the Ballarat Welcome Centre next week, focused on community safety.<\/p>\n
Hosted by Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council in partnership with Victoria Police and the City of Ballarat, the meeting will be held from 7pm to 8pm on Monday, 31 October.<\/p>\n
Dr Sundram Sivamalai said the aim is to bring ideas together to make Ballarat a safer place for every person to live.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone has a right to feel safe when they are out and about in Ballarat. What can we do to make Ballarat as safe as possible?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are going to welcome Ballarat\u2019s community leaders and residents to come along to the meeting, no longer than 60 minutes, to share how we move forward to make Ballarat a safer place to live.<\/p>\n
\u201cLately there\u2019s been some anxiety within people. We\u2019re not here to be naming and blaming. Let\u2019s share our views and plan a strategy to move forward.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to live in peace and harmony, and to see that each of us can help each other when in need.\u201d<\/p>\n
Some community leaders will speak, before the floor is opened up to any organisations\u2019 representatives or residents who have their own strategies to share about public safety.<\/p>\n
After the meeting, volunteers are expected to be sought to develop plan of action.<\/p>\n
