LAST Saturday\u2019s Ballarat Highlands Bowls Region pennant got back to some normality with most teams able to play on grass greens.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately, Ballarat was only able to field their division one clash against Creswick, where the home side came home with a win thanks to father and son Tony and Aaron Wood.<\/p>\n
The club’s other matches in divisions three, six and nine were washed out. In division three, where Buninyong were to host the Sebastopol Bowling Club, the match switched to Ballarat Memorial Sport\u2019s synthetic greens.<\/p>\n
BMS\u2019 division six game, originally to be played at City Oval, was played on the club’s synthetic green.<\/p>\n
Sebas\u2019 division three side adapted early to the change of venue and took control of the game. Whilst three of the Buninyong rinks competed strongly to stay in touch with their opponents, it was Tony Walsh’s Sebas rink that won, paving the way for a clean sweep for their team.<\/p>\n
After round five, City Oval’s division three side leads the ladder with wins in all matches and 66 points, followed by clubs with teams having won two matches; Sebastopol on 56, BMS on 54, Invermay on 53, and Bungaree on 51.<\/p>\n
The first day’s play of Ballarat Highland Women’s and Men’s Fours Championships was played at BMS on Sunday.<\/p>\n
After the completion of the sectional matches, the following teams go through to the semi-final at BMS on Sunday morning, with winners to play off for the afternoon championship<\/p>\n
In the Women’s Fours Championship, Ballan\u2019s Anne Draffen will play Clunes\u2019 Eileen Spong, and City Oval\u2019s Janine Roberts will play Webbcona\u2019s Jenny Shepherd.<\/p>\n
In the Men’s Fours Championship Webbcona\u2019s Zac Stewart will compete against Victoria\u2019s Haig Varcoe, while City Oval\u2019s Wayne Roberts will bowl against Linton\u2019s Ray Wilson.<\/p>\n
The semi-final Over 60’s Singles Championship is coming up at Sebastopol on Thursday, 10 November.<\/p>\n
