A TWENTY-ninth bust will be unveiled tomorrow, Friday, 4 November, along the Ballarat Botanical Gardens\u2019 Prime Ministers\u2019 Avenue, with the subject in attendance.<\/p>\n
Former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is set to visit the gardens for the reveal, alongside Linda Klarfeld, the commissioned creator of the bronze sculpture.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy 91-year-old art teacher suggested I think about Mr Turnbull as a real person, father and husband, and not just the politician or businessman,\u201d Klarfeld said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo that\u2019s what I did… I wanted his children and grandchildren to be able to see him in the piece and to like it.\u201d<\/p>\n
After pandemic delays, Klarfeld was unsure whether anyone would get to see the statue.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m glad now that we are able to have this unveiling at all, and that we have something to celebrate and bring people together,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
City of Ballarat mayor Cr Daniel Moloney said it will be an honour to welcome Mr Turnbull to Ballarat.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve all been waiting with anticipation for this unveiling. It has certainly been a long time coming,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
A Sydney-based artist, Klarfeld also created the Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott busts. Members of the public are welcome to attend at 1.30pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
