{"id":88583,"date":"2022-11-11T04:58:16","date_gmt":"2022-11-10T17:58:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/?p=88583"},"modified":"2022-11-10T20:53:40","modified_gmt":"2022-11-10T09:53:40","slug":"five-things-you-cant-miss-at-the-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/ballarat\/news\/five-things-you-cant-miss-at-the-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Five things you can\u2019t miss at the Show!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Rooftop Express<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>THE Ballarat Times News Group 2022 Ballarat Show\u2019s star attraction The Rooftop Express will offer staged horse and cattle performances throughout the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Visiting from Queensland, the show puts animals centre stage with tricks, jumps and scripted action with horsemanship led by founder David Manchon.<\/p>\n<p>The roughly one-hour show features seven performers and 35 cattle and will take place at the Broadhead Arena with meet and greets and photo opportunities to follow.<\/p>\n<p>The Rooftop Express will also feature Rawhide, an American Bison bull who Mr Manchon said is the real star of the show.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_88585\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-88585\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-88585\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/11\/IMG_6665-scaled-e1668073999435-300x200.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/11\/IMG_6665-scaled-e1668073999435-300x200.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/11\/IMG_6665-scaled-e1668073999435-768x512.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/11\/IMG_6665-scaled-e1668073999435-272x182.jpeg 272w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2022\/11\/IMG_6665-scaled-e1668073999435.jpeg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-88585\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Rooftop Express, led by David Manchon, features eight horses, 17 ponies and an American bison called Rawhide Photo: SUPPLIED<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong>VAS Dog Jump<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Animal competitions are a show tradition and this year\u2019s event will host the Victorian Agricultural Shows\u2019 dog high jump competition.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees can pay $7 entry to watch Victoria\u2019s climbing canine elite compete in the state finals with the winners of each 2022 Victorian Agricultural Show taking part.<\/p>\n<p>The event will take place on Sunday at 1pm.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bethany Fisher<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The show\u2019s Regent Cinemas Family Stage will play host to a variety of acts with children\u2019s performer Bethany Fisher taking top billing.<\/p>\n<p>Joined by backing dancers Sarah and Claire, Fisher\u2019s act will feature family favourite songs with audience members invited up on stage to get involved and learn some new moves.<\/p>\n<p>Participation is key with prizes to be handed out for the kids and parents who give their all to the singing and dancing. Fisher will perform on the Regent Stage on Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fireworks display<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The show\u2019s return will be rung in with the traditional fireworks display on Saturday night.<\/p>\n<p>At 9pm, the sky above the Showgrounds will light up with colour and sound in celebration of the show\u2019s arrival.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Woodchopping competition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A regular fixture of the show is the woodchopping competition which returns over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>About 10 different comps will take place on the Saturday with categories like the butcher\u2019s block, and the 13-inch and 15-inch underhand championships.<\/p>\n<p>Returning for the first time since 2015 is the tree display where contestants will chop while up a tree.<\/p>\n<p>Following the competitions, a training demonstration for the Victorian under 21s team will take place on Sunday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Rooftop Express THE Ballarat Times News Group 2022 Ballarat Show\u2019s star attraction The Rooftop Express will offer staged horse and cattle performances throughout the weekend.
