BELATED birthday celebrations will be on the agenda for the upcoming Clunes Show when it returns next weekend.<\/p>\n
The agricultural show\u2019s 160th anniversary event is slated for Saturday, 19 November at the Clunes Showgrounds after being cancelled two years in a row.<\/p>\n
Jenny Redpath, Clunes and District Agricultural Society president, said there\u2019ll be plenty of ways to join in the fun.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s absolutely fantastic to be back and we\u2019re very keen to get going,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year we\u2019re going to be highlighting the Midlands Axemen, and we have our strongman competition during the day.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s also a virtual header simulator which is an interactive grain crop, so that\u2019ll be great fun for the kids.<\/p>\n
\u201cThen there\u2019s our homecrafts pavilion which just shows off what people can do, from cakes to floral arrangements, even some homebrew.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnother big one for us is the food and wine pavilion where we like to highlight local wineries and producers.\u201d<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s Show will also see the 25th anniversary of the Bute Ute Competition, which Ms Redpath said usually receives more than 60 entrants.<\/p>\n
A history book on will launch, and footage will be projected, showcasing past and present Show action and people.<\/p>\n
Ms Redpath said she\u2019s excited to mark the Show\u2019s milestone birthday.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re eager to get back and ring in the occasion. It\u2019ll be great to really show where we\u2019ve come from and how far we\u2019ve gone since,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone\u2019s very keen to come back especially after being stuck at home for the last two years.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know everyone\u2019s been making stuff as well so I think our craft comps are going to be inundated this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
