The Labor Party has pledged eighty-thousands-dollars in additional funding for the Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre if it wins the election on 26 November.<\/p>\n
The Centre provides a range of free or low-cost resources to the Ballarat community, including adult classes and training, multicultural services, community lunches and help with finding employment.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre does a fantastic job promoting a sense of belonging, reducing social isolation and offering opportunities,\u201d Labor candidate, and Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s why we\u2019re supporting them to continue their great work with this $80,000 grant.\u201d<\/p>\n
State Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Colin Brooks said the BNC is a vital community service.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt offers invaluable support to the Wendouree community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLabor is doing what matters, investing in Neighbourhood Houses that play a powerful role in building strong communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
Previously operating as the Ballarat East Community House in another location, the Centre was established more than 42 years ago and is one of 400 neighbourhood houses around the state.<\/p>\n
It is funded by a raft of multi-level government departments and other organisations, including the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Education and Training, Jobs Victoria, the City of Ballarat, and charity the Brotherhood of St Laurence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
