SEVEN Federation University Arts Academy students are currently having their works displayed as part of the latest exhibition at Unicorn Lane.<\/p>\n
The show is called Somewhere Else II and features one work per student as part of their second year Visual Arts Bachelors Collaboration IV unit.<\/p>\n
Participating students are Charlie Timms-McLean, Clayton Keefe, Erin Coomans, Peta Kalisperis, Tahlia Roberts, Suryadiaz Sutherland and Travis Trudgeon.<\/p>\n
Kalisperis said the exhibition is a great way to highlight her art alongside her peers.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s pretty great to have it on display and it\u2019s a really good opportunity for us students to showcase our work and the hard work we\u2019ve put into it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve had opportunities before through Oxygen College but this is my first time exhibiting through the Federation University and in Ballarat.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy piece is called Far Away. It\u2019s a layered collage lino block with oil pastels at the bottom.\u201d<\/p>\n
The works were created throughout three weeks during semester two, with the unifying theme of lockdown.<\/p>\n
Techniques range from mixed media, digital printing, charcoal work and 3D elements.<\/p>\n
The previous Somewhere Else exhibition was displayed during November last year.<\/p>\n
Lecturer, Jimmy Pasakos said the exhibition is about showcasing student work within a professional setting.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been striving to create an environment where they can display their work in a gallery situation which leads into the rollout of our new co-op model where university courses meet industry standards,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe project was about their experiences being locked down. It\u2019s a case of subconscious, dreams and the idea of being someplace else other than your house.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s not many opportunities for students or emerging artists to present their work so\u2026 to have an outlet like Unicorn Lane, to have more of those would really give them a leg up in support.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
