A CENTRAL Victoria Livestock Exchange Ballarat fundraiser and auction has generated thousands of dollars to benefit the Ballarat SES unit.<\/p>\n
The CVLX community raised more than $6750 to recognise and boost volunteers\u2019 work, much of which has recently been flood focused.<\/p>\n
As part of the fundraiser, 22 lambs within four pens sold for double the normal price, with CVLX matching the last pen\u2019s price, topping up the pool. Donations were also collected during a sausage sizzle supported by Ballarat Meat Company.<\/p>\n
Ballarat SES controller Gordon Hicks said the floods emphasised the important of community SES units, and the volunteers that keep them alive.<\/p>\n
He said he was grateful to CVLX, the local agents involved, and the broader district for their assistance.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur aim is always to be there when our community is in need, but this does require significant funding and resources,\u201d Mr Hicks said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI extend our warmest thanks to CVLX for initiating the special auction, and to those who have donated funds, for recognising the contribution we make to maintaining the safety of families and community members across the region.\u201d<\/p>\n
CVLX manager Jeff Paull was delighted to aid local SES volunteers, and therefore, community members that will be in need of assistance in the future.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe importance of the SES was felt during the recent flood event, so we are very pleased to have been able to place a spotlight on them today while raising much-needed funds to help contribute to ongoing resourcing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe set a $5000 target and are happy to have exceeded this by raising more than $6750 for the SES.<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you to local agents for their donations and to everyone who attended to make this morning\u2019s event a success.\u201d<\/p>\n
