THERE is probably no better introduction to a life of loving books than to have a book read to you as a young child, and even more exciting when the reader is the author of the book.<\/p>\n
First time author Elyse Hunt has been filling the hearts and minds of young people at local kindergartens and day care centres as she reads from her own Astrid\u2019s Big Day.<\/p>\n
It tells the story of Astrid, a dog who likes her days to be playful and fun but are also full of emotional experiences that are only just beginning.<\/p>\n
Hunt said that it was so much fun reading to young people, to gauge their reaction to the story and to tell them that Astrid is indeed Elyse\u2019s own dog.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen I started writing I thought of my nieces and nephews and would they like the book,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was inspired by own dog Astrid and the range of emotions and shenanigans she experiences in a day.<\/p>\n
\u201cAstrid is on the cover, along with my husband. I hope that young people like the book and I can tell them of further adventures with Astrid\u201d!<\/p>\n
The book has delightful pictures and the publication has been well received in the publishing industry.<\/p>\n
After studying biomedical science at the University of Ballarat and realising that was not the life for her, Hunt ventured into the world of writing, and is loving it<\/p>\n
She has thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of writing her first book.<\/p>\n
