BALLARAT Regional Tourism was highlighted at last week\u2019s 2022 Victorian Tourism Awards with staff member Julia Antonetti winning a top honour.<\/p>\n
The project officer received the Young Achievers Award for her passion for hospitality and efforts to deliver initiatives which aim to strengthen the industry\u2019s local capabilities as it emerges from pandemic challenges.<\/p>\n
\u201cHaving worked in hospitality for over seven years, I am passionate about encouraging more young people to consider a career in this sector,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to now continue to pursue my passion and support this industry through my role with Ballarat Regional Tourism.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Antonetti has been recognised in large part due to her delivery of the project HospoHeroes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe program was a local industry lead and delivered staff training series, aimed at helping tackle the significant skilled staff shortages.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn the face of staff shortages, despite a younger or less experienced workforce, it was fantastic to see over 130 staff participate in this program,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI strongly believe that providing training and professional development opportunities is critical to both retaining staff within the industry and helping strengthen Ballarat\u2019s position as one of Victoria\u2019s leading regional wining and dining destinations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Antonetti keeps a finger closely on the pulse of the hospitality industry, working evenings at Ragazzone and Mitchel Harris Wines.<\/p>\n
The awards presentation night was held in Melbourne and celebrated tourism and business excellence, innovation, and teamwork.<\/p>\n
During the event Ballarat Heritage Festival was awarded a bronze medal in the festivals and events category while Kryal Castle was a finalist in the Tourist Attractions section.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
