A CREATIVE producer has been employed by the Ballarat International Foto Biennale ahead of next year\u2019s photographic festival.<\/p>\n
With experience in professional photography, curation, studio and gallery management, artist relations, and product design, Pete Volich has made a big move from Croatia to Ballarat.<\/p>\n
He is originally from Western Australia, recently worked as a production development consultant with APY Art Collective and was part of the Zaachariaha Fieldings silk scarf project.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m pleased to be returning home and looking forward to bringing my international experience and connections to my role with BIFB,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
BIFB CEO Vanessa Gerrans said the appointment has been thrilling.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a pivotal role within Australia\u2019s leading photography event as it enters a new growth phase,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look forward to working with Pete to deliver a creatively charged program for the 10th Ballarat International Foto Biennale in 2023 and launch the National Centre for Photography in 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether, BIFB and the NCFP will offer visitors a place to discover photography and exchange ideas year-round, presenting works by respected artists, supporting emerging talent, and welcoming everyone to discover contemporary visual culture.<\/p>\n

A decade ago, Volich worked on the Anangu, Pitjantjatjara, and Yankatjatjara lands as Kaltjiti Arts Centre studio manager.<\/p>\n
He has also worked at the National Film and Sound Archive, for the Next Wave Festival, Melbourne, Sydney\u2019s Performance Space, and Museum of Contemporary Art, and at London\u2019s Royal College of the Arts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
