THE next stage of Central Highlands Water\u2019s main sewage line overhaul project will get underway in January.<\/p>\n
Worth $15 million, the next two-kilometre section of mostly underground works will aim to upgrade wastewater pipes and extend the infrastructure\u2019s lifespan for 100 years.<\/p>\n
Construction is set to take place along the Yarrowee River from White Flat Oval, to the south of the Prest Street river crossing.<\/p>\n
\u201cBallarat Sewer Build stage one was not without its challenges, navigating through our busy central business district, while also contending with the pandemic and adverse weather conditions,\u201d said CHW managing director Jeff Haydon.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut through the use of micro-tunnelling and short moving worksites to minimise disruption and keep roads open, combined with the support and understanding of the community and businesses in the area, it was highly successful.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were able to install approximately one kilometre of pipe with as minimal customer impact as possible.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile the original sewerage system has served our communities well, Ballarat Sewer Build is preparing to service the next generations, providing long-lasting infrastructure to protect our community and environment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are also planning ahead for the estimated $14.5 million stage three, the final section of Ballarat Sewer Build, which stretches from Peel Street to Brown Hill Reserve.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stage one of the works ran from Peel Street at Mair Street to White Flat Oval and was completed in late 2021.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
