THE star was placed on the last unadorned tree in the Kmart lobby at Delacombe Town Centre last week, with decorations from Mount Blowhard Primary School students.<\/p>\n
The school was the final remaining group invited to decorate seven trees dotted about the space.<\/p>\n
Students from Canadian Lead, Mount Pleasant, Mount Clear, Caledonian primary schools also participated.<\/p>\n
Lee-Anne Lederer, the centre\u2019s administration manager said the initiative has been a great way to add some festive colour.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had a good response. Parents are coming in with their kids and saying \u2018I made that decoration\u2019,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s exciting. It\u2019s bringing people to the centre and inviting that community spirit. As a reward, each class has been given a $50 Woolworths gift card towards their end-of-year parties.\u201d<\/p>\n
Three pupils from Mount Blowhard decorated their tree with paper trees, baubles and origami made by the school\u2019s 75 students.<\/p>\n
Bobbi Marshall was one of the children invited to decorate the tree, and said she was excited to hang her crafted stocking onto one of the branches.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was fun to make our decorations. I liked getting to make different patterns and getting to look at them,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe preps made lots of different baubles and all sorts of stuff. For my stocking, I did all the Christmas colours. Red, green and a bit of white.<\/p>\n
Mount Blowhard\u2019s art teacher Kate Ackland coordinated the effort said it was great to display the work the students had put in over the recent weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was good to get their artwork in public show so other people could see it and get the school name out there since we\u2019re only small,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome students did more than one piece. It\u2019s been a mixture where some did colouring. The 5\/6 students taught others how to do origami. Everyone participated.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
