RESEARCHERS at the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute have published their research findings on triple negative breast cancer.<\/p>\n
The paper was published in Current Oncology and focuses on how different treatments can affect the disease.<\/p>\n
FECRI director Professor George Kannourakis said the research showcases the developments being achieved at the institute.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis publication is a great example of the relevant and ground-breaking work that the team here at the institute are doing into the immunology of cancer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur program is building great momentum and will continue to produce outcomes.\u201d<\/p>\n
Alongside Professor Kannourakis, contributors to the paper included researches Dr Aparna Jayachandran, Dr Sushma Rao and Dr Prashanth Prithviraj, and DR Arpita Poddar.<\/p>\n
Dr Jayachandran is the institute\u2019s head of breast cancer group and said their research is a step forward in understanding triple negative breast cancer.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis works sets a future research path for the development of new and improved diagnostic and therapeutic options for TNBC patients,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
With three PhD students and 17 staff members, FECRI\u2019s work centres around how immunology can assist in cancer treatments.<\/p>\n
The research paper has been summarised in a YouTube video available via FECRI\u2019s channel.<\/p>\n
